A question we are often asked when a real estate agent is renaming their agency,

is whether they can change their website URL without affecting their SEO.

Obviously, if you make a mistake here then your website and brand can lose years of SEO which will have a massive impact on your organic ranking in search engines. Luckily, google is aware that brands can change their domain names so they have a nifty tool within the “Search Console” called “change of address” which allows you to manage these domain changes.

This change of address notification tells google what your new domain name will be so google can then adjust its index to redirect all of the old urls for your website to the new pages within the new domain name. Think of this as an automated 301 redirect.
